Get Involved...

Ka Hana Pono thrives because of the relationships that sustain it. Our preschool is more than a program — it is a community practice of nurturing children in balance with nature, ʻohana, and Spirit. There are many ways to walk beside us: sharing your gifts as a volunteer, or joining our teaching ʻohana. Each contribution strengthens the circle of care around our keiki.

Whether through volunteering, or teaching, your presence matters. Together, we create a preschool where keiki can grow in wonder, community, and balance.

🌿 Volunteer

Volunteers are part of our ʻohana, and we welcome those who bring curiosity, creativity, and care for children and ʻāina. We see volunteering as a reciprocal relationship — keiki benefit from your gifts, and volunteers leave with deeper connection and joy.

Ways to Volunteer:

  • Student Volunteers: We support high school and college students in earning service hours through meaningful, hands-on experiences with keiki and gardens.

  • Community Volunteers: Artists, musicians, storytellers, farmers, and cultural practitioners enrich our daily rhythm by sharing their gifts.

  • On-Call Support: Caring community members who can step in when extra hands are needed help us ensure consistency and aloha for our children.

Teaching at Ka Hana Pono is a practice of living in pono — in balance and harmony with children, families, and ʻāina. Our educators are guides, not directors. We seek teachers who honor play as the true work of childhood and who embody aloha in daily relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field)

  • Experience in play-based, nature-based, or Reggio/forest school approaches

  • Commitment to inclusive, respectful partnerships with children and families

  • Desire to weave Hawaiian values and practices into the daily rhythm of learning
