šæ The Hana (The Practice)
At Ka Hana Pono, books open doors to new worlds for our keiki. Whether curled up together indoors or reading under the Hawaiian sun š“āļø, story time is more than learning letters and words ā itās about connection, imagination, and discovery. āØš
š± What Children Learn
Through reading, keiki practice listening š, patience šļø, and focus. They begin to build early literacy skills like recognizing letters š¤, understanding story structure, and expanding their vocabulary.
š Connection to Social-Emotional Learning
Stories give keiki a safe way to explore big feelings šš, empathy š¤, and problem-solving. Sharing books together nurtures friendship šÆāāļø and cooperation, as they wait their turn, point out favorite pictures, and retell stories in their own words.
šŗ Connection to Ź»Äina
Even our reading adventures reflect our place here in HawaiŹ»i. From books about whales š to local seasons, keiki learn that stories live all around us ā in nature šæ, in the ocean š, and in the community we call home.
⨠Living in Pono
Reading reminds us that learning is joyful when itās done together š, with care and balance. By fostering a love of books early on, we plant seeds š± of curiosity and wonder that grow for a lifetime.
šø We currently have a few spaces open for new keiki to join our Ka Hana Pono Ź»ohana. We look forward to growing and learning together in our beautiful North Shore community! ššļø
